Sunday Showcase

No. 39 - Gilad Bar

Gilad Bar is this week’s Sunday Showcase. East meets West in Gilad Bar’s visually stunning body of work, inspired by the Middle East and rooted in a personal connection to Iran.

About the artist:

Gilad Bar is a visual artist, graphic designer, illustrator, and researcher currently living and working in Jaffa. Gilad has a bachelor’s degree in design from the Department of Visual Communication of Shenkar. In his body of work, he conducts in-depth visual research, examining possibilities for new and fresh connections between old and new, between East and West, different languages, and more. Many of his works are inspired by the Middle East. His work often combines orientalist motifs from the Near East, such as various symbols and female portraits. Alongside them, Bar often deals with Iran, a land of roots that he imagines and dreams of, which has a deep and personal meaning to him.

Alongside the magazine, Sunday Showcase provides additional opportunities for emerging artists and writers to share their work and gain exposure. There are no themes or deadlines, simply email us your best work for a chance to get featured across all of our channels. We accept writing of any genre and visual art of all mediums.
