Sunday Showcase

No. 35 - Yaara Oren

Yaara Oren is our Sunday Showcase this week! See how she reflects everyday reality through a subjective and internal experience in her paintings.

About the artist:

Yaara Oren is an Israeli artist, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Her artistic practice focuses on painting, and extends to ceramic and photography. Oren graduated “Hamidrasha School of Art” with an “Excellence in Art” grant on 2009 and she is the winner of “Osnat Mozes Prize for a Young Painter” for 2018. In her works, Oren aims to reflect parts of everyday reality, expressed by a subjective, internal experience. Oren views the painting medium as a language that she is constantly explores and develop. In her paintings, Oren traces the way a color “encounters” another and the way lines intertwine with color blockings, while exploring different brush strokes.  Oren draws inspiration from her immediate environment: The streets around her studio, her home, different images she stumbles across on the internet, personal belongings and documented memories. Over the past few years, Oren has gradually neglected the use of imagery in her work in order to deepen a formalist abstract study of the painting medium and to focus her artistic work on inner views and thoughts, resembling a visual stream of consciousness.

Alongside the magazine, Sunday Showcase provides additional opportunities for emerging artists and writers to share their work and gain exposure. There are no themes or deadlines, simply email us your best work for a chance to get featured across all of our channels. We accept writing of any genre and visual art of all mediums.
