Sunday Showcase

No. 30 - Darryl Erez-Hutchison

Darryl Erez-Hutchison is our Sunday Showcase this week! Born in Belfast, the now Jaffa-based painter’s work is underpinned by the urban environment around him. His paintings evoke a romantic appreciation of the city, rendered through optimistic, pastel-tinted landscapes, while at the same time exploring the complexity of his relationship to it.

About the artist:

Darryl Erez-Hutchison was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland in 2007. He met his Israeli wife in Mexico, and after an exchange program at Bezalel School of Art and Design, moved to Israel in 2013. After several years working freelance and lecturing, he now paints full time from his studio in Jaffa, where his work is dominated by themes of dislocation, boundaries, identity, and ideas of what home means.

Alongside the magazine, Sunday Showcase provides additional opportunities for emerging artists and writers to share their work and gain exposure. There are no themes or deadlines, simply email us your best work for a chance to get featured across all of our channels. We accept writing of any genre and visual art of all mediums.
