Sunday Showcase

No. 15 - Paul C.

We are so excited to share a sample of work by Paul C. on the Sunday Showcase this week! Commonly known as @drawingtelaviv, Paul’s illustrations combine Japanese aesthetics and characters with iconic Tel Avivian scenes. His nostalgic renderings help us deepen our appreciation for this amazing city.

About the artist:

Paul C. is an artist from Vancouver who now lives in Tel Aviv. For 10 years, Paul has been incorporating Japanese characters and aesthetics into his illustrations of Tel Aviv. Originally, it was because he wanted to “recreate” the magic of when he didn’t understand Hebrew signs on buildings and could appreciate them for only their appearance and structure. Now he studies Japanese so this doesn’t work so well, but he still incorporates Japanese design aesthetics and inspiration into his interpretations of the eclectic and diverse architecture and life in Tel Aviv. He studied psychology and art history before moving to Israel, and works in high-tech as a UX content designer.

Alongside the magazine, Sunday Showcase provides additional opportunities for emerging artists and writers to share their work and gain exposure. There are no themes or deadlines, simply email us your best work for a chance to get featured across all of our channels. We accept writing of any genre and visual art of all mediums.
