Cookie Moon is our Sunday Showcase this week! Drawing inspiration from the likes of Hockney and Matisse, the Tel Aviv-based illustrator creates compositions that draw you into their bright and dreamy atmosphere. We could literally look at her work all day…
Tel Aviv based illustrator Cookie Moon (Sara Laimon) has a varied creative practice ranging from film and music videos, graphic design and branding, to co-founding electronic musical label Unterman. This polymath creative approach extends to her illustration; with a style that was honed in the slow unfolding nightmare of 2020, the illustrator takes cues from artist David Hockney, combined with visual references from fashion, literature and instagram, and inspired by real life experiences and her study of Jewish philosophy. This meeting of the inner world and the external physical world is a recurring subject in Sara’s illustrations, working intuitively and quickly, she creates painterly images drenched in atmosphere.
