This week, we are excited to share a sample of work by Melani Hekimoglu, an artist from Istanbul, Turkey. Melani’s work — vases, sculptures, beaded curtains, planters, and more — is influenced by the materiality of the medium itself. Clay is sensitive. It absorbs every movement and touch. For Melani, the delicate and repetitive nature of manipulating it serves as a meditation, allowing her to make pieces that intuitively reflect her internal state.

Melani Hekimoglu is a Tel Aviv based artist originally from Istanbul, Turkey. She has recently graduated from the Ceramics and Glass department at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Making art is her way of reflecting on the sacred creation in all forms. She sees her pieces as ritualistic objects and the audience as part of a ceremony.
